ENL Coordinator – Aly was born and raised in Westchester County, NY. She comes from a family of educators and is proud to become part of the long list of those who have worked in the Bronx! Aly graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a degree in Political Science, Psychology, and Spanish. She then left the east coast for Chicago as a Teach for America corps member, where she taught 1st and 2nd grade for four years as a transitional bilingual teacher. Aly concurrently earned her Masters of Science in Education Studies from Johns Hopkins University. Aly returned home to New York in 2018 and worked as an English as a New Language teacher in Harlem. She enthusiastically joined the Haven team in 2019 to continue her work supporting Haven’s language learners! She is excited to be part of a team that values community. When she’s not teaching, Aly is running outside, spending time with her family and friends, reading, eating sour patch watermelon, and in search of the next reggaeton jam.
