Restorative Practice Coach –
Born and Raised in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, Mr.Hernandez has always been invested in contributing towards the growth and development of his community. He began his early childhood career at the tender age of 14 by volunteering at his local after school program. Mr.Hernandez maintained his commitment with the afterschool program for five years up until the year 2005, when he moved on to begin his pursuit of a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. It was then he knew his passion would be to assist, nurture and educate children from the Bronx. Mr.Hernandez graduated from Stonehill College in 09’ and began his tenure at Haven Academy as a group leader with the Futures After School program. Throughout his tenure at Haven Academy he has successfully transitioned through numerous support roles, but it was in the year 2013 that he found his true calling as Haven Academy’s Physical Education Instructor. Mr.Hernandez truly believes that healthy habits of the body lead to healthy habits of the mind. Mr. Hernandez combines his divine love for sports and music to cultivate a one of a kind high intensity movement experience for students of all ages. Mr. Hernandez also works with the NY foundlingś camp felix summer program which is uniquely designed to serve as a summer camp for children in foster care. He has committed a total of 9 summers; 4 of which he spent as a camp counselor, 3 of them as sports director and lastly, he served as the on site director of the program for last few years. Mr.Hernandez believes the key ingredient to his recipe for success is a positive vibes only mentality which he shares with both students and colleagues alike.
