Originally from California, Kinnery moved to NYC in 2012 to begin her career in education, working as a teacher and school leader in NYC schools for over a decade with a commitment to providing equitable educational experiences for all students. As a teacher, she centered her classroom around social justice, activism, and self-identity, rooted in the idea that literacy is a tool for voice and empowerment. Kinnery believes in finding innovative, holistic solutions to support our youth and redesigning the educational model to reflect the needs of our students. She is passionate about supporting teachers and teams in creating learning experiences that harness students’ innate curiosity and center classrooms around models of creativity, investigation, and dialogue. Before joining Haven, Kinnery served as an educational consultant with an expertise in literacy, data-driven instruction, and culturally sustaining pedagogy.
In her free time, Kinnery enjoys trying out intense workout classes, hiking, binge-watching TV, and traveling. Kinnery holds a BA in International Development Studies, Education, and Public Policy from UCLA and a MA from Relay Graduate School of Education.
