Stephanie Slabic has had extensive experience as a classroom teacher, professional staff developer, and workshop designer and facilitator over her 20+ years as an educator. Her expertise in coaching teachers, coaches, and administrators has brought her deep respect and widespread recognition as a leader and innovator in the field of education. Stephanie’s journey toward mathematical leadership began as a second and third-grade teacher at PS 261 in Brooklyn. She developed a passion for teaching math early on in her career. This passion brought her to Mathematics in the City project, a nationally recognized organization co-directed by Antonia Cameron and Catherine Twomey-Fosnot. Here, she honed her math content and pedagogical content knowledge and also learned how to design powerful professional learning experiences for other educators. In 2011, Stephanie joined Metamorphosis TLC where she continued to deepen her practice as a coach, workshop facilitator, and leader. Over the course of her 9 years there, Stephanie served as both Director of Professional Development and Chief Academic Officer. During her tenure at Metamorphosis, she served as a consultant to Haven Academy, working closely with the administration and coaches to support the teaching and learning of mathematics since 2011. Stephanie is thrilled to be a full-time member of the Haven team and looks forward to continued collaboration with teachers, coaches, and administrators in creating deep learning experiences for students of all ages.
